Toronto Emergency Medical Services (Toronto EMS) is honoured to be working with Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) to provide support to the Canadian Veteran delegates participating in the 70th Anniversary of D Day and the Battle of Normandy celebrations taking place in France in June 2014.
Eleven Toronto EMS staff will be joining the VAC Medical Team (one physician and two registered nurses) in the care and assistance in the activities of daily living for 125 Veteran delegates and their caregivers. Each of the Toronto EMS staff are volunteering their time for this historic event and are doing so by taking a leave of absence. The tour runs between 1 – 10 June 2014, with the delegation departing from Ottawa, Canada, and flying to Deauville, France, on board a Canadian Armed Forces airbus.
This is an exciting adventure that we are about to embark upon – returning to the beaches and battlefields with these brave soldiers, sailors and airmen who made history 70 years ago!
We are proud of Veterans, those who served yesterday and those who serve today. Canada is a great nation – and the fine men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces have continuously given their all to keep her great.
