Exercise Canadian Invasion 2018 – Old Blighty
ECI18 – Old Blighty is a Cadet based optional training activity to the United Kingdom that will be conducted between 10 – 18 March 2018, inclusive.
With 45 Cadet participants from 142 Mimico ‘Determination’ Squadron, 2 VandenBos Whitby Squadron and 272 Ojibwa Royal Canadian Sea Cadets, supported by eleven Canadian Forces Reserve Officers and staff, ECI18 promises to be an exciting learning adventure for one and all.
Like other ECI tours, ECI18 is created and executed by a group of military reservist and DND civilian staff who not only volunteer to deliver the programme, they actually pay to attend just like the Cadet participants. And, just like other ECI tours, the emphasis is in creating a tour that is economical in cost for the participant, yet provides significant learning experiences and opportunities. We utilize military facilities, government and private hostels to reduce lodging costs, enjoy meals in the community, and spend most of our time touring locations of historical significance to Canada.
ECI18 will see us visit a number of interesting locations as we wander through the streets of London discovering over a thousand of years of history. We will also visit RAF Hendon, the Imperial War Museum, the Tower of London, and many more locations. To see where we are going please visit our daily routing to get an idea of what we are up to. Check out our photos as they are posted and enjoy reading the comments submitted by the participants.
